We are a growing private periodontal/oral surgery practice and are seeking a dental assistant with strong chairside skills specific to dental surgery procedures. We use cutting-edge technology for the best possible patient care; we have a wonderful patient population, a dedicated doctor, and staff who enjoy their work!
We work Tuesday through Friday, and we enjoy three-day weekends. "We're lovin' it" on Tuesday mornings with a bag of McMuffins for the staff! What does a typical day look like for our dental assistants?
Assisting the periodontist during dental procedures: This involves passing instruments, suctioning, and providing support to the periodontist during various treatments such as osseous surgery, extractions, dental implant procedures, and other periodontal therapies.
Preparing treatment rooms: The dental assistant is responsible for setting up and organizing the treatment rooms before patient appointments. This includes sterilizing and arranging instruments, ensuring all necessary materials and supplies are readily available, and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
Sterilization and infection control: Following strict infection control protocols within the OSHA guidelines is crucial in a dental setting. The dental assistant ensures proper sterilization and disinfection of instruments, equipment, and treatment areas to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
Maintaining patient records: The dental assistant is responsible for accurately documenting patient information, treatment plans, and procedures performed. This includes updating electronic health records, taking note of patients' medical histories, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.
Ordering and inventory management: The assistant may be responsible for managing dental supplies and equipment inventory. This involves monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring that necessary supplies are available for procedures.
Candidates with two years of periodontal or oral surgery experience are preferred. They should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills, and knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Dentrix knowledge and training through an accredited dental assisting program (DANB) are preferred.
