Summary:
The Public Health Nurse performs professional public health nursing duties in Montclair and contracting towns, and coordinates services and programs throughout the community and in conjunction with community partners. Work is performed under general direction from the Director of Health and Human Services or their designee, who reviews performance for conformance to regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
Duties:
The Public Health Nurse provides integrated support to the daily operation of the Health Department in delivering the 10 essential public health services. The Public Health Nurse is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, and evaluating evidence-based preventative services and programs, conducting Communicable Disease Investigation and reporting, directing investigations of suspected disease outbreaks, administers Tuberculin Skin Tests, conducts childcare and school immunization audits, running adolescent and adult immunization clinics, performing lead risk assessment, screening and case management, responds to health questions or needs of individuals and/or families during home visits, in clinics or schools or, while giving health demonstrations and lectures to community groups to educate the public on preventive health measures, coordinating adult health screening programs and follow-up, assisting with the coordination of public health emergency preparedness and response.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree with at least one (1) year of public health nursing background preferred. Applicants must possess a current and valid registration as a Professional Nurse (RN) in the State of New Jersey and a valid New Jersey Driver’s License or equivalent mobility.
Salary Range:
$59,028 - $87,9778 per year; includes health benefits.
