POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Laboratory Manager as needed to ensure the provision of timely and accurate laboratory test results through processes that are in compliance with requirements established by accreditation standards and by federal/state reimbursement agencies. Assists as needed in staff-related and administrative tasks. Oversees various technical activities and aspects of the Clinical Laboratories. Has knowledge of advanced scientific principles within the specialty area and is able to apply that knowledge. Collaborates with others to organize work, perform assigned tasks and set priorities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or an appropriate biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university and successful completion of a structured clinical program (CAHEA approved) is required and certification in Clinical Laboratory Science by a recognized certifying agency and two years clinical laboratory experience with at least one year experience in a specific department.

OR Completion of an accredited clinical program and certification prior to 1963 and two years of current clinical laboratory experience with one year experience in a specific department is required.

OR A Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university and a Clinical Laboratory Specialist certification and two years clinical laboratory experience with one year experience in the specific department is preferred. (Certification after obtaining the degree is preferred.)

OR Certifications as a Histocompatibility Technologist AND as a Histocompatibility Specialist by the American Board for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) are required. With five years of histocompatibility testing experience is required with a performance record indicating exceptional initiative, efficiency and competency in performance of all laboratory test procedures currently offered and documented effectiveness in communications with physicians and colleagues and the ability to carry out research
